GTCS PRD for Reviewees

Target Audience: Teachers (including those on supply and those new to PRD e.g. early career teachers)

This session is aimed at GTCS registered staff to support high quality Professional Review and Development (PRD) and Professional Update (PU) in Perth and Kinross.

Presenter: Shona O'Connor - Perth and Kinross Council 

 

Aims: This is a face to face session to explore the basic foundations to leadership and management. This Leadership and Management course will help you to develop the skills that are essential for all leaders and managers. The course looks at the different qualities you may adopt and techniques for motivating and coaching your team and how to maximise your use of time. 

By the end of the session participants should have a better understanding of the key characteristics of leaders and mangers and will be able to spot these differences within their own setting and be able to compliment the roles.

Leadership Development Programme

Target Audience: Depute Headteachers and Education and Learning Managers/Team Leads

This programme supports the development of knowledge and critical understanding of leadership and management concepts and practices. It will support you to develop your skills as a senior leader. Participants will participate in a total of 6.5 days of professional learning. The programme will develop skills to support participants to further understand their role as a leader and manager and to develop skills to lead change and improvement. In advance of the programme, participants will have agreed with their HT/line manager an area of the Quality Improvement Plan/Team Plan which they will lead through all stages of the improvement cycle. The learning from the programme will be applied to this work, and impact shared at the end of programme. Applications will close on Friday 10 October 2025.

Leading Change Programme

Target Audience: 

  • Newly appointed Headteachers and Acting Headteachers are required to attend all sessions.
  • All Headteachers and Business Managers are invited to attend sessions highlighted in green. Applications should be submitted via the ECS Learning Hub.
  • Tailored Support for some headteachers will be provided through recommended participation at identified sessions.

 

The PKC Leading Change Programme supports school leaders to fulfil the responsibilities of the head teacher role. It is an induction programme for new and acting headteachers in Perth and Kinross and a programme of tailored support for all headteachers. The focus is on Leading Change and Improvement, with professional learning inputs planned to improve knowledge, understanding and skills. Sessions are also designed as an introduction to, and refresher of, PKC management procedures, systems/resources and approaches and are led by central teams from key services.

Senior Practitioner Development Programme

Target Audience: ELC and Out of School Care Any practitioner wishing to develop leadership skills. ECP or SECP or equivalent.

This session is for practitioners who wish to develop their leadership skills to take on future senior roles across Perth and Kinross.

Support for Power BI Dashboards

Target Audience: School Leaders and school Power BI Users

This course supports staff across Perth and Kinross Council in using Power BI dashboards for data analysis, self-evaluation, and improvement planning. It covers navigating and interpreting dashboards, exploring key data sets (e.g. attendance, absence, exclusions, CfE levels), and applying filters by year, stage, SIMD, ASN, and more. Participants will learn how to use dashboards to support school decision-making, track pupil progress, and inform strategic planning, while also receiving guidance on self-evaluation documentation and understanding the tools’ capabilities and limitations.

Outcomes:
