Inspiring Teachers: Improving Assessment as part of Learning and Teaching 2022 - 2023

Target Audience:  Suitable for all teachers (in Broad General Education). This programme is for individual teachers not engaging in the Inspiring Schools Assessment Programme. All applicants are required to discuss their application with their line manager. To ensure the greatest impact on practice, a commitment to attending all parts of the programme is desirable.

Aims and Outcomes: Provide an opportunity for practitioners to:  Widen their knowledge and understanding of assessment practices as part of the learning, teaching and assessment cycle.  Critically reflect on their thinking and practice.  Better awareness of the principles and range of approaches to assessment.  Increased confidence and accuracy in professional judgements in relation to progress and achievement.  Improved articulation of practices in and approaches to assessment.

Inspiring Schools: Improving Assessment as part of Learning and Teaching 2022 - 2023

Target Audience:  Suitable for all practitioners (Broad General Education).

This programme is for departments, schools or LMGs focusing on improving assessment as an integral part of learning and teaching. It is framed around the Learning, Teaching and Assessment (moderation) cycle. Participants will engage in 5 sessions across the year with opportunities for small group discussion and the use of practical tools to support assessment practices. To ensure greatest impact on practice, a commitment to attending all parts of the programme is desirable.

Aims and Outcomes: 

10:00 Arrival and Introduction (presentation)

10:30 Demonstration of practical resources

11:00 Tour round facilities and nature reserve; practical taster sessions (minibeasts, sensory activities, biological surveys)

12:00 Lunch

12:30 Practical taster sessions (pond dipping, pond survey, bird watching)

13:10 A closer look at programme structure, curriculum links and opportunity for questions.

14:00 Depart

 

Hot and cold drinks are available in our café. Lunch can be ordered in advance from our café; please request a menu from Sarah at sarah.cooper1@rspb.org.uk

Outdoor clothing required, wrap up warm, including waterproofs if rain is forecast. The day will have indoor and outdoor activities
