Coaching Conversations Programme

Target Audience: Open to all staff. Recommended for those new to line management, including Principal Teachers.

The Coaching Conversations Programme will provide the opportunity to build on existing skills, learn new ones and increase self-awareness using coaching style conversations.

Closing The Gap Tool - Recording impact on the CTGT and using the Data Dashboard to support Improvement

Target Audience: Senior Leaders or Principal Teachers responsible for CTGT

During this drop-in session, our Attainment Advisor, Eve Moran, will provide guidance on how to evaluate and record the impact of interventions on the Closing the Gap Tool.  The session will also cover the new Data Dashboard allowing Senior Leaders to review interventions happening across Perth & Kinross, and to identify and share good practice.

Handling Difficult Conversations - Jane Mudd

Target Audience: Suitable for headteachers who have been in post more than one year.

This workshop will increase confidence and skills in Handling Difficult Conversations. The workshop will cover:

Leadership for All Programmes

The Leadership for All Programme sets out a programme of development opportunities that many of you have asked for and is designed to build confidence, skills and knowledge whilst challenging traditional ways of thinking and working to reform. The programme will be delivered in a range of on-line, in-person and self-directed learning opportunities with a blend of theory, practical tools and methods and case studies.

Leadership For All

Leadership of Curriculum - Rationale and Design

Target Audience: Primary and Secondary Headteachers and DHTs

This session will provide school leaders with support and resources which will help with the review of the curriculum and creation of a curriculum rationale. We plan for there to be inputs from the Curriculum Innovation Team in Education Scotland (TBC), central officers and PKC headteachers. There will be sector specific discussions and presentations.

Leading in Changing Times - Jane Mudd

Target Audience: Suitable for Depute Heads/ECS Managers.  This programme is open to ECS employees in a people management role and is open to Depute Head Teachers and other ECS Managers who have responsibility for leading a team and managing change and improvement.

This programme supports the development of knowledge and critical understanding of leadership and management concepts and practices. Participants will participate in a total of 6 days (5 full days, plus two half days) of training and will develop skills to support them to further understand their role as a leader and manager and to develop skills to lead teams effectively through change and improvement. There is an expectation of undertaking a limited amount of work between sessions to put the theory into practice and to prepare for the next session. Please see full programme details for outcomes.

Maximising PEF: Planning

Target Audience: Senior Leaders

This training will provide breadth and depth for leaders confident with the foundations of PEF Planning. Coverage will include:
A deeper dive into data to identify needs

PKC Middle Leaders Principal Teacher/Aspiring Principal Teachers Programme

Target Audience: Principal Teachers in their first year in post as well as those in post for at least one year.  Those aspiring to a Principal Teacher post in the next three years.

This leadership programme is specifically designed for a group of up to twenty-five principal teachers and will focus on building your individual capabilities and capacity as well as that of others. The programme runs from October to March, with five core days and one twilight session.  It includes the completion of a 360 questionnaire and work-based project where attendees will be required to implement what they have learned in the workplace and reflect on their learning via a plenary session on the final day of the programme. It is expected that your line manager or a mentor will be identified to support you to complete the work-based project.  

This programme will run from November to March, with day one taking place on Wednesday 15 November. The closing date for applications is now Friday 3rd November.
